Why was Erica Graham Consulting LLC created?

Late in my corporate career in the home improvement industry, I realized I wanted more for my life and my career.  I became disenchanted with corporate politics and how often the winds of change swept through.  I’d seen so many good people (hard-working, knowledgeable, tenured people) get the “pink slip” from a company they’d devoted many years of their lives to.  All in the name of cutting expenses.

Many of those times, I managed to be saved from their fate by virtue of the fact that I was not a member of management.  Then I decided to step into the Kitchen and Bath Remodel Consultant role.  I was four years in that role when whispers of downsizing came blowing through.  It was rumored that downsizing was starting at the very top of the corporate ladder and filtering down to the lower levels.

I thought, no, not me.  I’m too important.  And then, I wasn’t.  I was given a month and a half to close out any existing projects, sell what I could and give the bad news to new clients that instead of dealing with a Consultant, now they would have to deal with a number of inexperienced salespeople.  How could this happen?

Corporations are governed by stockholders.  Stockholders want to see ROI.  People, no matter how much a corporation says they value their people, are a commodity.  I was just a number to them.  A faceless number that cost them a salary, commission, benefits, and other expenses.  I decided then and there, I would be in charge of my own destiny.

In Charge of My Own Destiny.

It was at that point in 2019, I decided to start my own business.  I jumped into it with fervor and passion.  I knew I had a talent and skills that would be useful to business people but, I did not know which business people would best benefit from them.  And then it hit me between the eyes one night.  Duh!  Remodel Consultant!  I loved that role because I truly enjoyed walking alongside remodel clients in their journeys to recreate their kitchens and baths!

I loved seeing faces light up when a 3D rendering came up on the computer screen of their new, improved space.  I loved that I could take a client from zero creativity to choosing their own paint, tile and grout colors with a little encouragement.   I loved being able to answer the client’s questions about the remodel process that would alleviate fears and anxiety.  I loved working alongside my General Contractors to come up with solutions to issues that happened out in the field.  I loved seeing the spaces come to life.

I am a creative that enjoys processes.  I am a creative that LOVES helping and encouraging others.  I am a creative that HELPS carry burdens.  This is MY passion.  MY goal.  MY vision for my business.  This is my vision for YOUR business.

I want to come alongside YOU, the overwhelmed Interior Designer, because there’s a whole lot of business coming in and not enough of you to go around.  I want to work alongside YOU, Kitchen and Bath Remodel Professional, because there’s so much work to be done and you don’t want to have to choose between managing a remodel and getting paid.  Allow this creative to carry some of your burden.  Allow this creative to encourage you in your highs and lows.  Allow this creative to assist in setting up processes that will help make your life and business easier to manage.

Hello. Thank you for visiting my “About” page.  As you can tell, I have a passion for helping others reach their full business potential.  When I’m not doing this, I can be found enjoying this life’s journey with my husband of 27 years, loving my two sons (ages 26 and 23) and their significant others and letting my doggo and three cats run me ragged!🐶 🐱 😼 🙀

My hobbies include going camping (but especially drinking the coffee and cooking the food on camping trips), reading good books, listening to 80s and 90s music, cooking for family gatherings, and watching Downton Abbey re-runs (please don’t judge me too harshly).
